THE REFUGE
The Result of
a Dream
After much prayer, birth was given to The Refuge as the result of a dream from a teacher who saw a great need. So many of her students did not have a safe or quiet place to go home to, food in their refrigerator, or someone to help them with their homework.
A safe place to land.
First Baptist Church of Gurley opened the doors to its parsonage for Graces of Gurley to offer The Refuge. The Refuge is exactly what its name says: A place our Jacob’s Ladder students can come after school to relax, eat, get help with homework, and spend time with friends and adult volunteers in a safe and quiet place.

Building relationships
with others and a relationship with Christ.
The volunteers who serve at The Refuge work to build relationships, help the kids take care of the house, prepare meals, teach them life skills, host a weekly Bible study and more.
We are always in need of supplies: Paper plates, napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, disposable bowls, Clorox, snack foods, sodas and bottled water.
Special guests are encouraged to come and share their testimonies, teach a life skill, or give an encouraging word. If you are interested in speaking please provide a reference from a pastor or a Graces of Gurley associate. For info on available dates click HERE
